Veterinary Services

Vaccinations are an important part of your pet's veterinary care.

We recommend that puppies be vaccinated at 6-8 weeks, 10-12 weeks and 14-16 weeks of age and for kittens to be vaccinated at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks of age. The vaccinations should then be repeated at 12 months of age.

For cats we generally recommend vaccinations every three years. However if the household has more than four cats or if cats are to be boarded in a cattery then annual vaccinations are still advised. The vaccine we use is a 3-1 vaccine for protection against Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopaenia. Cats are not required to be vaccinated against Rabies virus unless they are leaving or entering Hong Kong or if they are involved in cat shows.

We have several different recommendations for dogs depending upon their housing and lifestyle. For apartment dogs that do not go out very often we recommend vaccinations every three years. The vaccine we use is a 5-1 vaccine offering protections against Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza and Leptospirosis. For active outgoing dogs we still recommend yearly vaccinations and owing to the increasing prevalence of Leptospirosis in certain areas of Hong Kong we currently recommend 12 monthly lepto vaccinations for those dogs who are at risk from this disease. Dogs should be vaccinated against Rabies virus every three years.
